brother jt is central, pa’s john terlesky whose freewheeling boundless music has been released under many different monikers: brother jt & vibrolux, brother jt3 and most commonly brother jt. he has worked with an impressive roster of tastemakers such as drag city, siltbreeze, birdman, and drunken fish. brother jt is a moniker that finds terleskys songwriting and ample guitar skills taking a decidedly psychedelic form but never deviating too far from the classic song structure.

antigone is an artists coming from the depth paris producing and digging for several years now. the three tracks are a travel in to different style of techno with the intention to reach a certain emotion that is close from nostalgia and really deep feeling. the challenge of this work was to find a good balance between sound and colour, focusing on an old sci-­&#8208,,,fi landscape. with a really mature perception this young artist is developing his own sound, a detroit atmospheres, openly characterize this ep, but it remains antigone work at the end with all his sense of details and perception.

hmcs most recent offering of techno and house music, city rhythm, (juice 002) is a sound typical of his influence on dance music culture in his hometown of adelaide, australia. from pre-internet days when scenes throughout europe and the us were created on the back of techno and house music, a smaller but just as significant scene had developed in adelaide, celebrations were a weekly occurance on adelaide dance floors and dj hmc was responsible for the playlist.

after sides from matthew burton, seuil and albert schwartz, sammy dees ultrastretch label returns in 2013 with volkan akin. a regular presence at berlin institutions like club der visionäre, akin has been slowly rolling out his brand of prickly, spaced-out club tracks since the end of the last decade, both under his own name and as v for volkan. but if volkan akin has up until now been unfamiliar beyond germany, his ultrastretch debut, voltage, featuring an absolute beast of a ricardo villalobos remix, stands to turn more than a few heads in his direction. densely packed and intricately constructed, voltage is an extended groove you can get lost in. cymbals ring softly amidst whirrs of faintly melodic clicks, scratches and voices. but at the center of akins churning, percussive arrangement lies a warm and weighty kick sure to keep dancers pinned to the floor. like so many great perlon records, voltage can be taken as a deeply considered exercise in sound design or as a deadly club track simultaneously, with akins musical sophistication and knack for an inviting beat working hand-in-hand. the original mix spends over 11 minutes unraveling, but as you fall further into the swirl of akins interlocking rhythms, youre likely to stop counting. a shorter constant voltage mix evokes sunrise, pulling back the originals heft to reveal gorgeous pads and hints of organic rhythm. ricardo villalobos, sammys longtime label mate at perlon and a producer who likely needs no introduction, digs deeper into the thump at the heart of voltage on his acdc remix. focusing on the originals wisps of melody, villalobos turns in a warm, zoned-in remix that feels of a piece with the singular techno trips found on his recent lp dependent and happy

sunkissed recordings latest offering features four balearic gems from the incredible grace jones. one of the faces of the original ibiza party scene, grace spent many a debauched night partying hard on the island and her music was as influential on the original balearic scene as it was in the new york disco underground. first up is the amazing tom moulton 12 version of la vie en rose - a slo-mo sensual disco masterpiece that became an anthem at ibizas amnesia. next up is the extended 12 version of feel up with a fantastic groove that filled floors from the paradise garage to pacha. on the b side, we get nipple to the bottle another stunning sly & robbie production that found favour on the balearic dancefloors and last but not least the extended larry levan mix of the party classic pull up to the bumper.

camp supafrico return with the sixth edition of their highly acclaimed sound of funky africa series. digging even deeper into the afro-funk vaults, side a features the ber-rare 1984 shina williams and his african percussionists agboju logun. grooving along for a massive eleven and a half minutes, this super-heavy nigerian disco cut splices raw sounding horns with choirs and chants. seriously epic. flip over for dont do it from bongi makeba, a mesmerising afro-funk workout with her powerful voice weaving in and out of the grooving bass and spaced-out sax. last up is the sought-after mangous ye from black soul. originally the b-side of a 1976 release on tiny but top-quality nyc label beam junction, this tom moulton mixed slice of high-octane percussion-soaked afro-disco hit big on italys cosmic scene as well as the clubs of new york. another surefire hit from the supafrico imprint.

leftymood records is an italian label based in milan, born from the minds of danny deep, chris carini and alberto ampezzi, three artists with very similar musical background but with different artistic evolution. and these three artists make also the debut of leftymood records. dannys track is a trip through different electronic genres that range from indie and deep with creative acid synth sounds. perfect for a more sophisticated audience. ampezzis unconditional is made up of percussions, drifty ipnotic beat and marvelously deep groove that push an unconventional raw energy. suitable for underground situations. chris carini presents his track introducing techno groove with house elements like classic piano and voices that will burn the dancefloor in every moments in a dj set... first pressing ltd to 200 copies

making a techno shift, midnight shifts third release sees recondite on his upward trajectory pair up with the relatively reserved julien h mulder. both outputs possess a stripped down aesthetic, but while the former shows up straight up and shiny, the latter introduces lightness and play. a tightly packed, hardworking 4-track ep that will serve the many moods of a dj well.

lphs second release of the spring is also the nyc labels second split 12inch. but instead of featuring a couple of sun-soaked l.a.-based outfits as with cosmic kids and fingerpaints reality on the horizon ep, label heads nik mercer, jacques renault, and james friedman set out to sweden to grab three tracks by m.d.c. (otherwise known as muslim disco club) and name in lights, plus a remix by studio barnhus kornel kovacs.

founding sound traveller dj patrique collaborates with clarence on one track to be released on the vinyl edition only. clarence brandon is obviously inspired by the detroit heritage as all tracks bear the soul of this influential city. by using an uplifting track build-up, forward moving rhythms and inspiring melodies, all tracks are well suited for the lovers of fine techno and house. gracefully placing subtle sounds but never loosing sight of the dance floor, clarence diligently produced the first ever physical sound travels release.

turns out that cold meat lights no fire so attached to this music are ghosts of my life transcribing their emotions into techno. first half of this rocket is more on a negative tip, the second half is more positive, like we all should take it. either way you should listen to both sides cause they complement each other, so try to relax and enjoy the ride, or get off your ass and jam.

second of two new bass-infected dub ep s with a hint of techno by the japanese mystica tribe. titletrack stars are mine and his temple immediately set off to deep dub and bass territories in these two typical mystica tribe excursions: grooving, but dark with lots of effects and tribal influences. prayer evolves around a catchy melodica that wont leave your head for days or maybe even weeks and zen stone tops it off perfectly with this gloomy scifi dubtrip.

the second tape in the series, ferro #01 continues the path through the abyss of dubbed out techno sounds: ever forward with off-kilter resonations from the echo chamber and a pounding heart-beat throughout. like #00, this one is again a tape-only-release. each cassette is a unique piece of art – stamped, numbered and equipped with a link to the digital files. but ther is no way to get these files without grabbing a tape!

of course the acid rebirth is the masterpiece here, in a sense. a bloody good reprise, totally replayed with hardware of the rebirth from jones and stenfenson on bonzai. finishing on a big frustration: still some work for the dj! but also with the interstellar delivery, mr gasmask brings a superb techno trance tune. at least afx fans will enjoy the last tune, the arboria tribute:a superb acid broken stuff, in the pure oldschool tradition of this owesome style. 200 copy limited!

mr. oleg poliakov joins the phonogramme team. also known for his releases under the skat moniker, olegs early production career was built on creating beats for hip-hop mcs and lending his studio skills to rappers. switching to radio production, he went onto to work with french national stations, further enhancing his technical skills. it was at this time his began to explore electronic music as a composer. with a sound that strays from specifics, he looks to create his own compositions using a subtle combo of all electronic worlds. his early releases on labels including karat and sthlmaudio won him acclaim, but it is his releases for circus company that have really put him on the map.

when gilles peterson reacts to a house record, you know it is a very special house record. deep and soulfull, love it - was what the 6 music dj thought of these two. if that wasnt enough, trickski described best things in life are free as one hell of a bomb. add in support from jimmy edgar, mark e, severino and dusky and this is looking like one of glasgow undergrounds most successful records to date. love games is the a bit of a wolf in sheeps clothing. what starts off as hooky percussive groove slowly morphs into a full vocal classic with swirling chords and a killer synth hook. severino dropped it at fabric recently and took the roof off the place. best things in life are free is a darker affair – all wandering acid lines and moody, emotional strings - but as trickski proved when they played it at watergate, just as effective.

release number eight on london house maven george fitzgeralds manmakemusic label, the laszlo dancehall ep, connects two of the uks most exciting young producers: leon vynehall and christian piers. the sample driven crunch of vynehalls earlier productions on manmakemusic can be heard loud and clear complementing the canny but irresistible percussive and vocal shimmies of piers. aside track gave up, championed by george fitzgerald on his recent bbc essential mix for radio one, sets the pace and aims straight at the dancefloor with its strange sonic palette, at once euphoric and gritty. on the flip we get aint no time on which vynehall and piers give us their interpretation of classic house. the final track, manley harrison, is the strangest and arguably most original of the bunch and leaves the listener in no doubt as to why there is such a buzz about these two producers at the moment.

full pupp takes us on a trip to the darkest side of disco with 3 suspenseful takes on the lionheart brothers >the drift<. frisvold & lindbaek dont waste much time lull you in with gentle introductions but pull you right into their deepest lair where swathes of billowing, ghostly sounds and warped strings are sliced trough by gyrating rock guitars and echoing vocals truly messing with sense of reality and orientation. a psychedelic onslaught of stoner rock, italian horror soundtrack and progressive electronics which in the morten oby & prins thomas version obtains its dizzying intensity from stacking said components tightly to a towering, dense sound of wall while prins thomas diskomiks on the flip takes it sweet time of pleasurably adding up the spine tingling aural ingredients over a straighter beat, slowly tightening the screw during to course of 12 gloriously spooky minutes.

italian dj / producer max_m, who has recently seen a lot of movement thanks to his own label m_rec ltd, which includes releases by jeroen search, samuli kemppi, nx1, cassegrain, among others, arrives at woods n bass records to present the third edition of their vinyl-only imprint. three good examples of explorative but yet refreshing dub techno, in which maxs reversed, delayed chords should make this a secret weapon, perfect for some dancefloor euphoria

following on from his long awaited album ku:palm in november of last year, we now see its lead track pyramid get a vinyl release on photeks own label, photek productions. the eastern instrumentation and spacey beats may not be apt for every dance floor, but for fans of modus operandi era photek, pyramid is an essential tune. on the flip we have oshun, another track from ku:palm this time remixed by beneath, a producer that began making waves last year with a series of 12 inches on his own label, no symbols and a cracking mix for fact mag. he has gone on to release the illusions ep on dusk & blackdowns keysound recordings, as well as a 12 inch on pinchs influential tectonic recordings. mixing the darkest elements of funky, dub and syncopated grime with a distinctly uk edge, beneaths complex layered beats result in a truly unique sound that is a perfect matched to remix fellow experimentalist photek. a young producer that clearly knows his shit, beneath is a breath of fresh air.

exploitation is the new film by dutch independent filmmaker edwin brienen. enfant terrible produced the soundtrack for this gothic-noir satiric fresco. 90 minutes of music to be enjoyed both as true soundtrack as well as a sequel to previous enfant terrible compilations... but more dramatic and ritualistic in the way the record is building up. it will please fans of minimal electronics and (post) industrial music but also moves into different styles such as idm, tekno, angst pop and chanson, while always keeping a dark and cold mood and/or dream state feeling throughout... limited edition of 250 copies!

i had dinner with breach in london and he told me: hey, i have a track that is really dirtybird. i would put it out but its really sounding right for you guys. i took this with a grain of salt but then i heard lets get hot and i found out he was right. it has got the swagger and the sound. it makes girls grind their asses into boys crotches on the dancefloor. perfect. signed. so i then asked him to make something even more sexual, thinking it would be ages before i got something back. 10 days later the a-side came back to me as a 2 minute clip while i was on the train to warehouse project in manchester. i liked it so much that i edited it on the train to stretch it out to 5 minute. as expected, it slayed the room and the final version breach has delivered is one of the best records of the year in my opinion. with the simple title of jack you can see for yourself when you play it. this is the real deal. love, vonstroke

its the 10..yep, slowly but surely we eased our way into number 10. marvin zeyss is no stranger to fans of quality deep house music, making his debut on colourful with an array of warm sounding grooves.

emotional rescue is proud to reissue one of germanys best - if most underrated - collectives dunkelziffer. formed of dominik von senger, reiner linke and helmut zerlett, the floating line up also included contributions from cans damo suzuki and jaki liebetzeit, as well as the unknown cases stefan kratchen and reebop kwaku baah. this true supergroup, over a 6 year period, made 4 ground breaking albums that covered the classic krautrock blend of heavy, repetitive drumming, intricate, overlapping melody and sonic intonation, but expanded it to include heavy dub, soul and jazz elements. this special retrospection obi set is being issued as part of record store day and features the three 12 inches that will later be released individually.

the latest emotional response release provides something very special indeed, in the form of a new track from under the radar psychedelic rock musician nick nicely. nicely has been making music from the 70s onwards, but his music has recently undergone something of a critical reappraisal, with the likes of robert wyatt and robyn hitchcock supposedly inspired by his work, wrottersley road provides the ideal entry into his music, a masterful piece of shoegaze pop filled with fuzzed out guitars and eastern psychedelic tones. remixes are provided by invisible hands, who provide a minimal 80s inspired electro-pop version, which comes saturated in radiophonic textures, and the oscillation, who take the track into even more abstract ambient territory than the original, deep into a place where time seems to stand still entirely, drawing its rich textures out into infinity.
